ABOUT US.png

Fighting Deadlines Rescue was founded in late 2020 on the patio of a Bisbee Breakfast Club. Longtime animal welfare professionals and volunteers came together to discuss how Tucson's most at-risk dogs could best be served and concluded it was time for... yet another rescue.

There is no shortage of rescue groups in Arizona but there IS a shortage of organizations willing to pull shelter dogs saddled with euthanasia deadlines for behavioral reasons. There are many very legitimate reasons for this shortage that Fighting Deadlines aims to target with proactive training, fundraising, marketing and a very hands on approach.

Our founder, Amanda, has been a professional dog trainer for decades and is no stranger to behavioral needs of shelter dogs. She is also on-call to our fosters and adopters for training questions and issues as they arise. We believe almost all dogs have the potential to thrive in the right environment and with the right support and we strive daily to prove this.

AMANDA JANSEN

Amanda Jansen’s experience with animals is expansive and her passion runs deep. As a professional groomer for over 20 years, she has worked with thousands of dogs of almost every breed. Over the last 8 years, she has volunteered her blood, sweat and tears into the world of rescuing animals. Her passion for working with animals, specifically dogs, was the driving force behind becoming a professional dog trainer.  After volunteering and fostering for many of the rescues in the Tucson and surrounding areas, her ability to help train and reintegrate those dogs back into a family was noticed. As she began to make a name for herself in the rescue world, she found herself working even more closely with other trainers.  She started working as a kennel technician for a local training facility and had the opportunity to be mentored by the head trainer there. After months of learning various training techniques, she became a professional trainer.  In 2014, Amanda opened Dogs Behavin’ to continue her work helping the dogs of Tucson.
